Freeform

With the release of iPadOS 16.2, Apple’s digital whiteboard application Freeform was included.

Whilst itself is still in early Beta development, the signs of a very useful and more importantly free collaboration app.

The application is based around a gridded white canvas, which has the ability to be zoomed out to 10% and zoomed into 400% giving somewhat of an infinite workspace, which can be shared with friends, family and work colleagues via iCloud. The workspace can be exported to PDF and printed via AirPrint. Freefrom is available on devices which can run iOS16, iPadOS16 and macOS Ventura

The vast canvas allows you to add any kind of file you’ll ever need, PDF’s, text documents, images, audio and video.
The built in sticky notes are fully editable for typed text or annotated via the Apple Pencil making those brainstorming sessions a breeze.

Freeform gives the use the ability to FaceTime directly from inside the application, no need to loose focus or become distracted with social media notifications, with all members of the FaceTime call able to collaborate on canvas.

Add items in Freeform

Alongside excellent Apple Pencil support, you can add sticky notes, shapes, text boxes and files form your device. Apple has included a vast range shapes and outlines from sport or science to transport methods or simple objects.

At the moment only my old iPad Pro 9.7 with a Gen Apple Pencil has the 16.2 beta installed. Both the Freeform app and the OS itself is running very smoothly on this slightly older device.
