BurnDesk Privacy Policy

Last updated: 30 October 2026

BurnDesk is a productivity application for macOS, iOS, iPadOS and watchOS, developed and supported by The Apple Geek.

We believe your projects, tasks and personal information should remain under your control.

This Privacy Policy explains what information BurnDesk uses, how it is stored and what choices are available to you.

1. Information You Create

BurnDesk allows you to create and manage information such as:

  • Projects and project descriptions

  • Tasks and associated notes

  • Deadlines and scheduling information

  • Project organisation and progress

  • Information shared with invited collaborators

This information is used to provide BurnDesk's functionality.

BurnDesk does not require you to create a separate account with The Apple Geek.

2. Data Storage and iCloud

BurnDesk uses Apple's iCloud and CloudKit services to store and synchronise application information between supported devices.

Information synchronised through CloudKit is handled using Apple's infrastructure and associated security protections.

Your private projects are not made publicly available by BurnDesk.

The Apple Geek does not operate a separate BurnDesk account database or routinely access the contents of your private projects.

Your use of iCloud is also subject to Apple's applicable terms and privacy policies.

3. Project Sharing

BurnDesk supports collaboration through Apple's CloudKit sharing functionality.

When you choose to share a project, the information included in that project becomes accessible to the people you invite, according to the sharing permissions provided.

You are responsible for deciding which information to share and with whom.

Shared content may remain accessible to authorised participants until sharing permissions are changed or access is removed.

4. Calendar Access

BurnDesk may request permission to access your device's calendar information to provide its calendar-related features.

Calendar access is managed through Apple's operating-system permissions.

BurnDesk uses this information to provide the calendar functionality you choose to use. Calendar information is not collected by The Apple Geek for advertising or marketing purposes.

You can revoke calendar permissions through your device's settings.

5. Advertising and Tracking

BurnDesk does not contain third-party advertising and does not use your projects or tasks for advertising purposes.

We do not sell your personal information to advertisers or data brokers.

BurnDesk does not use your information to build advertising profiles.

6. Support and Diagnostics

If you contact us for assistance, we may receive information you voluntarily provide, such as your email address, device details, screenshots and a description of the problem.

This information is used to investigate your enquiry and respond to you.

Apple may also make limited crash or diagnostic information available to developers according to users' device and analytics-sharing settings.

We retain support correspondence only for as long as reasonably necessary to handle enquiries, follow up on issues and meet any applicable legal obligations.

7. Why We Process Information

Information used within BurnDesk supports the functionality you request, including managing projects, synchronisation and collaboration.

Where personal information is processed directly by The Apple Geek, such as support correspondence, we rely on appropriate legal grounds, including our legitimate interests in providing support and maintaining the application, and legal obligations where applicable.

We do not use your personal information for unrelated marketing without an appropriate basis.

8. Data Retention and Deletion

Your project information is retained locally or within your iCloud account according to the application's operation and Apple's iCloud storage services.

You can manage and remove your projects through the features available within BurnDesk.

Deleting the application from a device does not necessarily delete information already synchronised with iCloud or retained on other devices.

Shared project information may also remain with other authorised participants, depending on the sharing arrangement and any copies they have retained.

If you need assistance understanding your options for deleting BurnDesk information, please contact us.

9. Third-Party Services and International Processing

BurnDesk relies on Apple's platform services, including iCloud and CloudKit.

Apple processes information under its applicable privacy terms and may process information internationally subject to its data protection arrangements.

BurnDesk does not operate a separate third-party advertising or tracking service.

10. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location and the applicable law, you may have rights to request access to, correction of or deletion of personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing.

You may also have data portability rights.

To exercise applicable rights relating to information processed directly by The Apple Geek, please contact us.

For information managed through your Apple Account, additional controls and rights may be available directly through Apple.

UK residents also have the right to raise concerns with the Information Commissioner's Office at https://ico.org.uk.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when BurnDesk's functionality changes or when necessary to reflect legal or technical developments.

Any changes will be published on this page with an updated revision date.
